We can't do this work without YOU.
Every hour, every minute, every second you give helps build a stronger community.
Real change is possible when people unite to take action. Through volunteering with United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, you are not only giving back to the community but are gaining valuable experience. Join our network of volunteers, participate in a Day of Caring, or organize a company-wide initiative.
Volunteer Opportunities
First Thursday of Every Month- Located at the UWDOR Office
75 Market Street, Poughkeepsie NY, 12601
United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region needs volunteers to help unpack, sort and organize our storage space filled with donated items. United Way collects new items from local department stores, national manufacturers and neighbors to distribute to nonprofit agencies, faith-based organizations and schools. These items include, personal hygiene items, youth clothing and shoes, adult clothing, bedding, household items, school supplies and much, much more.
Impact through participation.
Your help is incredibly valuable. In fact, the Independent Sector estimates that the value of a volunteer hour is $38.48.
Last year, 3,361 individuals volunteered to work together to make our community stronger.
Their efforts resulted in a value of over $1,361,500 invested in the community!
Putting a dollar value on volunteer hours will never do justice to their true worth, but it is just one way for us to show the contributions individuals and organizations have made in our communities. The estimate helps acknowledge the millions of individuals who dedicate their time, talents, and energy to making a difference.
